How many points are required for PR in Ontario?

Have you ever wondered why do immigrants show so much interest in Canada Permanent Residence (PR)?

PR in Ontario

Well, there are multiple reasons to support this popularity or craziness among immigrants including,
  • Government sponsored free-schooling for kids
  • Highly subsidized education at the university level
  • Government sponsored free medical services
  • Social-security benefits for unemployed individuals
  • Eligibility for citizenship after staying in Canada for three years with PR status

So if these benefits are sufficient to make your mind interested for immigration to Canada, then more than 60 immigration options are available for you to get PR through the government. These programs include Federal Express entry program, Provincial Nominee program, Family sponsorship program, and more.

Among others, this post primarily focuses on one of the most popular Provincial Nominee Programs, popularized as Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). Ontario is the most populous Canadian province which provides shelter to around 13,650,000 people.  Of which most of the inhabitants are immigrants of different nationalities.

Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program has three primary categories including,

Ontario Human Capital: It brings applications from internationals that are ideal for Ontario’s labor force to meet the shortage of labor in different growing sectors of the province.

Ontario employer job offer: It brings applications from internationals that have a valid job offer from an employer in Ontario

Ontario Business: It brings applications from internationals that have sufficient money to invest in the establishment and management of the business in Ontario.

Among all, Ontario Human Capital majorly leads on a large number of eligible applicants in the province through the draws every year. In fact, according to previous year records, the Canadian province Ontario issued nearly half of all invitations to OINP’S Express entry linked immigration program.

Ontario Human Capital has five sub-categories, of which three immigration streams are linked to Federal Express entry program.
  • Ontario Human capital Priorities – Express entry
  • Ontario French-Speaking Skilled Worker - Express entry
  • Ontario Skilled Trades - Express entry
  • Ontario Masters Graduate
  • Ontario PhD Graduate

It means that if an applicant is interested in considering his/her profile for Ontario Human capital Priorities, Ontario French-Speaking Skilled Worker or Ontario Skilled Trades; he/she needs to create a profile in either FSWC OR CEC. For that, he/she needs a minimum of 67 points in the eligibility point table.
